Sharing evidence from the ground – how can the BAR best support national adaptation planning and implementation?

This session provides parties with concrete examples of how they can include high-quality water and sanitation indicators in their climate adaptation planning and implementation. With this event we ant to inform negotiators on the technical depth and expertise of the water and sanitation sector, and on the gaps that exist in the testing, and what support is therefore needed from the technical task force for making the water and sanitation targets reach everyone.

The second part of Achieving the Global Goal on Adaptation thematic discussion at the Pavilion will explore how the climate and water communities can work together to turn the water target of the UAE Global Climate Resilience Framework into on-the-ground action. The focus here is on moving from official commitments to tangible results.

The goal of this 2-part session (panel and interactive discussion) is to explore a diversity of ideas and recommendations for how to center water in the GGA from all corners of the water community and develop a shared narrative that effectively represents the whole and can be used to support negotiators throughout the remainder of COP28.
