Climate Pavilion Envoys

Recognizing the need to bridge more effectively towards those outside of the international water community, so that they may consider water more fully in their work, the Water for Climate Pavilion is encouraging its Core Partners to take on responsibilities to learn the issues and language in different climate spaces and build relationships with the stakeholders engaged there.

In that way, they can echo the water perspective in a way that makes sense within climate fora, as a solution, and share what they learn with other Core Partners.

Some envoys may be tasked with following discussions in a specific space, like a Pavilion, while others might follow a specific thematic mechanism based on their individual or institutional expertise and access to those areas. It is important to understand that it will be an organic, bottom-up process of information sharing based on what people are already interested in pursuing.

Tasks for the Envoy

  1. Learn about the process and stakeholders that they have been asked to pay attention to: What is important to them? What vocabulary do they use? How can water help them achieve their goals? What opportunities or events can be seized to continue to build the dialogue and break down silos?
  2. Be a spokesperson for water issues within the space that they are following, both formally and informally.
  3. Share what they learn with the Core Partners. In addition to opportunities to present and discuss, the permanent website for the Water Pavilion will serve as a repository for centralizing this information so that everyone can have access to it.
