Indigenous peoples in Brazil face persistent challenges in accessing safe water, sanitation, and waste management services, which are essential for health, well-being, and climate resilience. About half of the indigenous population lack acess to clean water in Brazil. Geographic isolation, cultural diversity, and environmental pressures have historically limited the effectiveness of conventional infrastructure approaches. In response, the Brazilian government made the National Program for Indigenous Water, Sanitation and Waste Management (PNSI), led by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with multiple agencies and Indigenous organizations. The Program seeks to integrate technical, environmental, and cultural dimensions in the design and implementation of sustainable solutions, ensuring Indigenous leadership and participation in decision-making processes
