Innovation for the urban water challenge: too little, too much and too dirty

The final session will look towards scalable solutions and the “COP of the Future” agenda by examining technological and institutional innovation across three interconnected urban water challenges:

TIME & PLACE

November 13, 15:00 - 16:00

ORGANISERSBentley, ICLEI, Arup, ASTM

Too little: water efficiency, reuse, demand management, leakage reduction, alternative supplies, groundwater and drought management.

Too much: forecasting and early warning, smart drainage, flood modelling, sensors, digital twins, real-time management and green-blue infrastructure.

Too dirty: decentralised and advanced treatment, water-quality monitoring, pollution prevention, reuse, circular approaches and resource recovery.

Technology will be considered as an enabler rather than an end in itself, with attention to affordability, governance, local capacity, data access and suitability for different city contexts.
