Flowing Together: Developing climate-rooted adaptation targets for water

The first part of the session will dissect existing global targets and frameworks (e.g. the Sendai Framework, the Global Biodiversity Framework, SDG 6.1 and 6.2) and identify the gaps. The second part of the session will look more deeply at the GGA process itself, including insights from involved national policymakers, to better understand the issues at play when global targets are being proposed.

Exploring the Interlinkages of Freshwater and Sanitation Indicators for the Global Goal on Adaptation

This event will involve participants from across the water, biodiversity, climate, and sanitation communities, in a collaborative exercise, to take stock and provide feedback to the ongoing indicator development process for water-related targets. This will include a look at freshwater indicators for the two GGA targets where water is mentioned explicitly and also a focus on how water connects the other GGA and associated sustainability framework targets, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Sedai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Just Add Water: Centering Water in the GGA

A workshop will follow where participants representing different water dimensions work to develop a shared narrative with recommendations for how to effectively center water in the GGA.
